Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. A special feature during January is a Homegrown Jazz segment on the 14th during WVIA’s All That Jazz at 7:00 PM. Jan. 6 OTiS. An outstanding seven-piece funk and soul band with horns, OtiS released two CDs before the members went their separate ways. This August 2012 session captures the band at their peak, with strong material and first-rate musicianship. (Encore)

Jan. 13 Christa Gniadek. A talented twenty-something singer-songwriter and graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Ms. Gniadek released her first album called Leaving Boston which has been featured on WVIA’s Mixed Bag. She makes her Homegrown Music debut with a collection of new songs performed in a solo acoustic setting on guitar and piano.

Jan. 14 A Homegrown Jazz Special with the JOSHUA DAVIS TRIO. Bassist and composer Dr. Joshua Davis is the Director of Jazz Studies at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA, and has performed around the world with such jazz luminaries as Randy Brecker and Peter Erskine. His trio includes pianist Vardan Ovsepian, and drummer Zach Harmon and they perform mostly original compositions. All three make their Homegrown Music debuts. Jan 21 Homegrown Jazz Special: The Joshua Davis Trio. Part 2 of the session broadcast January 14. Note: Start time 7:00 PM during WVIA's All That Jazz.

Jan. 27 The Jolly Tars. The duo of Ken Purcell (known for his work with the Celtic group the Shanachians) and Jake Laubach perform an entertaining set of old traditional tunes, including sea shanties, Celtic songs and folk songs from both sides of the Atlantic.
