Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham. Homegrown Music (HGM), presents new performances most Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. Homegrown Music marks its 30th anniversary as a weekly series on WVIA-FM. Special features includes a 30th anniversary sampler on December 12, a Homegrown Jazz segment on the 13th, a Homegrown Music Holiday set on the 19th and the annual year-end samplers on the 26th and 27th. Dec. 5 J.P. Jones. Veteran singer-songwriter John Paul Jones has a musical career that goes back to the 1970s when he recorded an album for RCA Records. Over the years, he has become a staple on the folk-festival and coffeehouse circuit, known for his creative and insightful songs. His latest independent CD is called Magical Thinking. This Encore from 2004 features Jones' Homegrown Music debut, and includes some of the songs that would appear on Magical Thinking.

Dec. 12 A Homegrown Music 30th Anniversary feature. WVIA has been presenting occasional regional artist performances since the station's inception in 1973. George Graham started Homegrown Music as a weekly series on WVIA in December 1976, and it has never stopped. Some special commemorative events and concerts are planned for the coming year, but for the anniversary of the weekly series' inception, Graham will present some gems from the archive, and feature some artists who have been part of the series since the beginning. Note: Start time 8:30 PM.

Dec. 13 A Homegrown Jazz Special with the Andy Roberts Group. Several years ago keyboard man and composer Andy Roberts appeared on Homegrown Music with a fine jazz-rock fusion group called New World Parade. He returns to the series with a straight-ahead acoustic jazz quintet including acclaimed vocalist Robin Work. They perform a set of both original compositions and jazz standards, all marked by outstanding musicianship and creative arranging.

Dec. 19 A Homegrown Music Holiday set. From the Homegrown Music Archive, it's a collection of original songs by regional artists for the Holiday season, ranging from the comedic to the reverent.

Dec. 26 The Annual Homegrown Music Year-End Sampler. Series producer George Graham puts together the yearly eclectic musical cross-section of the performances Homegrown Music has presented during 2006. The 90-minute segment includes excerpts from both the weekly studio recordings and the monthly live concerts. Note: Start time 8:30 PM.

Dec. 27 A Homegrown Jazz 2006 Sampler. This past year has seen more than the usual number of outstanding jazz performances on Homegrown Music. This hour-long special reprises some of them from studio sessions and live Homegrown Music Concerts. Note: Broadcast during WVIA's All That Jazz, from 7:00-8:00 PM.
