Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM and Saturdays at 6 PM on WVIA-HD2. Oct. 4 Skip Monday. Though no longer together, the Scranton area duo od Kaylin Karr and Nathan Montella drew on contemporary pop influences in an acoustic context. This is an encore of their appealing 2015 session.

Oct. 11 Matt Miskie. A long time veteran of the Homegrown Music series going back to the 1980s, the singer-songwriter returned after nearly 20 year hiatus in 2015 with a new collection of his appealing folk-based songs. This segment is an encore of that session.

Oct. 18 A Special Presentation: Songs and Stories from Coal Country. Performed before a studio audience earlier this month, this unique concert event brought together singer-songwriters Tom Flannery and Jay Smar singing original compositions about Northeastern Pennsylvania’s mining history, along with commentary from historian and sociologist Dr. Robert Wolensky, author of several books on the region and its mining and labor history. Note start time 8:00 PM

Oct. 25 The Five Percent. A first-rate rock band from the Scranton area, the group recorded several albums, and toured widely. Featuring well-known regional guitarist and frequent Homegrown Music guest Neil Nicastro, the band made two appearances on the series, including a live concert. This is an encore of a 2007 session with some of their high-quality original rock.
