Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham. Heard Tuesdays at 9:00 PM, Homegrown Music (HGM), presents new performances many weeks. June features another live Homegrown Music concert-broadcast on the 14th. June 1 Teddy Young and the Aces. From the Homegrown Music Archive comes this 2000 session with an outstanding blues band from NE PA, playing original music and blues standards.
June 8 The Silentreatment. A first-rate young rock quintet from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, The Silentreatment have released two CDs. They make their Homegrown Music debut with a set of their original music.

June 14 A Homegrown Music Live Concert with THE ANN KERSTETTER BAND and BRAD HAMMONDS. WVIA-FM's unique series of monthly live radio concert broadcasts continues with blues and distinctive acoustic music.

Ann Kerstetter has been performing since 1969, when she was part of part of a
band in the Sunbury area called Crosstown Bus. After a career as a high school
teacher, she is back doing music and singing the blues with lots of energy.
Her group were the winners of the Billtown Blues Festival challenge, and last
year the put in a studio session on Homegrown Music. Now she and her band are
back for a live performance.

Brad Hammonds is known as the guitar virtuso half of the duo Brazz Tree. Last
year he released a solo album of his own music, and now he has put together
group to perform that music called Shoulders of Giants, including
guitarist/vocalist Tom Crowley. The band makes its Homegrown Music debut with a
performance of Hammonds' creative acoustic music.

June 15 Mike Miz. Northeastern Pennsylvania native guitarist and
songwriter Mike Mizwinski has been attracting a good deal of attention
recently. He was recruited to tour with a reconstituted version of the
legendary art rock band Gong. He performs his own creative and appealing music
with a guest appearance by his father Mike Miswinski, Sr. in this 2009 session.

June 22 Birdsongs of the Mesozoic. This long-running art rock band has an international reputation. Known for their creative original music, and the distinctive reed playing of Ken Fields and guitar work of Michael Bierylo, the group performed in a Homegrown Music session in 2001. This memorable session from the archive is encored on this edition of HGM.

June 29 The Five Percent. A popular rock band from the
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, the Five Percent has been attracting audiences over
a wide area for their appealing, contemporary-sounding original music released
on several CDs. This segment features the band's songs from a 2007 Homegrown
Music session.
