Jan. 14 A Live Homegrown Music Concert with PAUL MARK AND THE VAN DORENS. WVIA-FM's unique monthly series of live two-hour concert broadcasts continues with the return of a popular East Coast blues band. Paul Mark and the Van Dorens last brought their high-energy blues to WVIA in 1997, and the show still brings in positive comments from listeners. We welcome the band back to perform music from their latest CD Indigo Vertigo, plus more from their extensive repertoire of original music and distinctive bluesy interpretations of other songs, including material not usually thought of as blues.

As usual free audience seating is available by calling the station. (Note: Start time: 8:00 PM)

Kenny Young and the Eggplants
Kenny Young and the Eggplants on Homegrown MusicJan. 21 Kenny Young and the Eggplants. One of the wittiest acoustic rock bands in existence, Kenny Young and his trio perform pun-filled songs about vegetables, badgers, space frogs, worms and overdue haircuts among other topics. It's music that the kids will love, while grownups will be able to savor the hilarious wordplay. It's all performed in a wonderfully quirky acoustic setting by this group that had already developed an international following.

Jan. 28 Mike Guldin and Rollin' & Tumblin'. This outstanding, energetic six-piece blues band (featuring two keyboard players) is based in the Lehigh Valley. They won the 2002 Billtown Blues Association Challenge, and will be competing next month in Memphis representing Eastern PA in the National Blues Challenge. WVIA's listeners heard the group perform during the station's coverage of the 2002 Billtown Festival. Now they come to Homegrown Music with a great set of original music and blues standards.
